OpenAI releases GPT-6 Rosalind Research through restricted access

OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 Rosalind Research on October 30 for multistep life sciences research in Work, Codex, and the API, where its identifier is gpt-6-rosalind. Access is limited to approved Research organizations and authorized users, with separate approval required for API use. Enterprise access begins with a two-week Admin Preview, disabled by default. Published API rates are $15 per million input tokens and $75 per million output tokens.

OpenAI says the model uses the same weights as GPT-6 Astra, without additional training data or post-training for this release. The distinction includes access controls and biological safeguards tailored to advanced research. Approved enterprise customers must have qualified people review outputs before they inform experiments, publications, or consequential decisions. Rosalind Discovery remains on the 5.5 generation.
