Talky discloses €1.5 million for AI that learns company accounting practices

An unusual invoice can leave accounting software waiting for someone who knows how the company handles exceptions. Talky Labs, a Madrid startup automating accounting and financial work, wants its AI to learn that unwritten knowledge. It has disclosed €1.5 million in early funding, completed in September, to hire staff, develop its product, and improve its computing infrastructure.

The software studies past accounting records and draws on finance teams' experience to work out how new transactions should be handled. Talky says its platform has processed more than 1.8 million documents. It can read invoices, suggest accounting entries, and match bank transactions with records. The revealing detail is what happens when it lacks enough information: it identifies the appropriate employee to ask.
