Atlas Bio raises $12.5 million to model drug trials on virtual patients

A promising medicine can spend years in testing before developers learn it does not help patients. Atlas Bio, a Swiss startup building computer simulations of drug trials, has announced $12.5 million in funding. It wants to use patterns in human tissue data to predict how virtual patients would respond, helping drugmakers choose treatments and design studies before testing them in people.

The company says its simulation projects take 12 weeks and can compare potential effects across different diseases. Its ambitions go further: replacing animal studies and parts of human drug testing. It plans to use the funding to serve more customers and further validate the platform. That last task remains central to a business built on predicting what happens inside real bodies.
